One person was injured in a two-car crash Saturday on South 17th Avenue, just north of the McCleary Bridge. The Wausau Fire Department said it appeared as though one car crossed the center line and hit the other.
A sports utility vehicle driven by Charles Melzer, of Antigo, reversed into a baseball backstop, striking four people, at a Little League game at Saratoga park. The victims, two of them children, were all treated and released from Langlade Hospital. Melzer told police that while attempting to leave the park his foot slipped off the brake and onto the accelerator while the vehicle was in reverse, resulting in the accident.
A bicyclist was injured after being struck by a vehicle on Wednesday at the intersection of Grand Avenue and Kickbusch Street. A woman was riding a bike on the sidewalk when a vehicle pulled out from a driveway on Grand Avenue and hit her.
A man from Wausau, Mark Lillie, and a woman from Tomahawk, Leanne Setlak, were injured in a two-vehicle crash Tuesday near Rhinelander. Lillie’s vehicle collided with a vehicle driven by Setlak at the intersection of Theis Road and Highway A in the town of Harrison.
The Portage County Sheriff’s Department has closed its investigation into a fatal crash last month, citing one bartender for serving an underage man who was one of three people killed. An 18-year-old and a 17-year-old were killed Monday evening in a two-vehicle crash that injured five other people on Highway 64 in Langlade County. A car with five people inside was northbound on Hill Road when it failed to stop for a stop sign at the intersection of Highway 64 in the town of Polar near Antigo. The car struck a van that was eastbound on Highway 64, according to a news release.
The lives of a 19 year old man from Linwood, a 29 year old man from Whiting and a 25 year old man from Stevens Point were claimed in an automobile accident in the Town of Linwood, Wisconsin at the intersection of Highway 66 and Birchwood Lane, about 4 miles southwest of Stevens Point. They were heading west on Highway 66 when the driver lost control and the truck hit a utility pole and embankment.
An accident involving one car caused injury to four people on Wednesday in the Town of Stettin, just outside of Wausau. Fredrick Morris, of Wausau, was driving on Stettin Drive when he lost control of his car and it rolled over.
