Christine Bremer Muggli’s Comment from the Democratic convention: As event opens, we’re excited

The Wisconsin delegation was fired up at our morning breakfast at 7am with speeches from many leaders including Peter Barca, Assembly Minority Leader and Senator Mark Miller.

We learned from state Sen. Mark Pocan, who is a Democratic candidate for Congress, that the race for our 7th Congressional District candidate, Pat Kreitlow, has been targeted as one of the strongest in the nation and the one to support! This news gives us even more reason to work hard to elect Kreitlow to Congress to take back the seat of Dave Obey.

Antigo Car Accident At Little League Game

A sports utility vehicle driven by Charles Melzer, of Antigo, reversed into a baseball backstop, striking four people, at a Little League game at Saratoga park.  The victims, two of them children, were all treated and released from Langlade Hospital.  Melzer told police that while attempting to leave the park his foot slipped off the brake and onto the accelerator while the vehicle was in reverse, resulting in the accident.

The Portage County Sheriff’s Department has closed its investigation into a fatal crash last month, citing one bartender for serving an underage man who was one of three people killed.  Investigators looked at whether they could charge anyone working at taverns the three may have visited with over-serving, but did not have evidence to pursue more charges in the April 29 crash that killed Scott Dean, 29, Nicholas Czech, 25, and Joseph Trzebiatowski, 19, Chief Deputy Dan Kontos said Wednesday. Dean, who investigators say was the driver, had a blood alcohol concentration o

Teens Killed In Langlade County Accident

An 18-year-old and a 17-year-old were killed Monday evening in a two-vehicle crash that injured five other people on Highway 64 in Langlade County. A car with five people inside was northbound on Hill Road when it failed to stop for a stop sign at the intersection of Highway 64 in the town of Polar near Antigo. The car struck a van that was eastbound on Highway 64, according to a news release.
