In an effort to recognize area students' academic achievements, Bremer & Trollop Law Offices S.C. are pleased to announce a new scholarship program. The Bremer & Trollop Scholar of the Month program recognizes seniors who demonstrate excellence in a core curriculum area. The nine high schools participating in the Scholar of the Month Program are Wausau West, Lakeland Union, SPASH, D.C. Everest, Rhinelander, Mosinee, Marshfield, Antigo, and Wausau East.
To be eligible, the student must be a senior and be selected by his or her instructors based on the quality of the work that has been completed by the student in the core curricular areas.
Each high school and its student scholar will be recognized through numerous promotions aired on Charter cable television during their designated month. In addition to this public recognition, the student scholar will be presented with a monetary scholarship at the close of the 2011-2012 school year.

Joshua Schmidt, a senior at Wausau East High School, has been selected as the May Scholar of the Month by Bremer & Trollop Law Offices S.C.
Joshua has maintained a 4.0 GPA while simultaneously working toward a full International Baccalaureate® Diploma, which is a two-year course of study designed to prepare students for advanced study. He is also an active member of the tennis, curling and math teams, is a member of the Wausau East High School band and is active in the community through his church youth group.
As part of the Scholar of the Month program, Joshua will receive a scholarship from Bremer & Trollop Law Offices, to be awarded at the close of the 2011-2012 academic year. Katrina Schremp, a senior at Antigo High School, has been selected as the April Scholar of the Month by Bremer & Trollop Law Offices S.C.
Katrina is recognized by her peers as an exceptional academic and as an exceptional person — one who makes others feel welcome and invited. She demonstrates keen leadership skills as a member of the student council and has played an important role in a variety of school functions — including homecoming and the Valentine’s Day fundraiser. She is a lifeguard and water aerobics and swim lesson instructor. An AP student with a 4.3 GPA, Katrina recently taught a three-day rhetoric class as part of a course assignment. She also assists in the high school administrative office, and was characterized as “an organized, on-the-ball, multi-tasker who is responsible, polite, trustworthy and conscientious” by the office staff.

Mary Wolff, a senior at Marshfield High School, has been selected as the March Scholar of the Month by Bremer & Trollop Law Offices S.C.
Amy Dopp, a teacher at Marshfield High School, notes, "If both students and staff at Marshfield High School were asked to name a senior with the highest degree of integrity and most likely to make a difference in the lives of people, they would overwhelmingly select Mary Wolff." Mary, an AP student, is noted for her leadership in the National Honor Society and Spanish Honor Society. Mary is also an outstanding athlete who has earned varsity letters in volleyball, basketball and softball.

Austin Fochs, a senior at Mosinee High School, has been selected as the February Scholar of the Month by Bremer & Trollop Law Offices S.C.
Austin has maintained a 4.0 Grade Point Average his senior year, while balancing his extracurricular commitments. He is noted by his instructors for his strong work ethic and pursuit of in-depth understanding of the subjects at hand. Austin is an active member of DECA, the Student Senate, National Honor Society, Math League and Science Olympiad. He has been a member of 4-H since 2001 and participates in hockey, soccer and football.

Alyssa is recognized for her "stellar academic performance, determination and peer leadership skills." One teacher noted, "Alyssa asks thoughtful questions aimed at a deeper understanding," while another instructor added, "Alyssa is motivated by an intrinsic sense of responsibility."

Benjamin is recognized for his exceptional efforts in the community, at school and on the playing field. Benjamin is a noted peer leader, diligent in his studies and has a keen “interest in many things in the world, particularly those centering on sports and music.” Benjamin demonstrates “strong character” and is an acknowledged team leader on the basketball court. As one teacher noted, “I am convinced that wherever you find Ben Aleckson, you would find the same personable, friendly, caring individual who really transformed his setting.”

Breanna Helminski, a senior at Stevens Point Area Senior High School (SPASH), has been selected as the November Scholar of the Month by Bremer & Trollop Law Offices S.C. Breanna is recognized for her exceptional academic performance as well as her peer leadership. She was nominated by Beth Molski, SPASH Librarian, and Denise Etrheim of the SPASH Math Department. They note that Breanna "is one of the most dedicated students. She’s not afraid to tackle difficult topics or ask difficult, insightful questions." Further, they note, "she is a very conscientious student and a true role model." Breanna is the daughter of Lise and Brian Helminski. Kaylin Chiolino, a senior at Lakeland Union Senior High School, has been selected as the October Scholar of the Month by Bremer & Trollop Law Offices S.C. Kaylin is recognized for her exceptional academic performance as well as her enthusiastic support of the community. Tony Borden, Physics/Chemistry Teacher at Lakeland, notes, "Kaylin is a student that grasps concepts quickly and asks questions indicative of her ability to think on higher levels than most — she is not satisfied with learning the material well enough to just get by." Adds Borden, "What makes Kaylin truly unique is that she enthusiastically shares so much of her time with our community." Marcus Newton, a senior at Wausau West Senior High School, has been selected as the September Scholar of the Month by Bremer & Trollop Law Offices S.C.
In addition to Marcus’ exceptional academic performance, he is an active member of both his school and his community. He is the current Student Council President, Co-Editor-in-Chief for the Yearbook, Executive Council Member for the National Honor Society and holds three part-time jobs. Pursuing his interest in theatre, Marcus started a theatre lighting design business and has worked with other area school districts and community theatre organizations.
