A Portage County one-vehicle crash injured four people on Friday evening. An 18-year-old Stevens Point man was driving westbound on Fourth Street in the town of Stockton when he crested a hill at a high speed and lost control, skidding into a ditch and then back across the road and into a tree. Two of the vehicle’s occupants, including the driver, were seriously injured and were airlifted to Aspirus Wausau Hospital and Ministry Saint Joseph’s Hospital in Marshfield. A third person was taken to an area hospital by ambulance to be treated for injuries, and a fourth was treated at the scene for injuries. Portage County police stated that speed and alcohol were believed to be factors in the crash. The accident is still under investigation.
