WAUSAU, Wis., May 6, 2019, For the last 10 years, Bremer & Trollop Law Offices have been awarding scholarships for academic excellence to area high school seniors who have demonstrated extraordinary scholastic achievements. To date, Bremer & Trollop has recognized 90 high school seniors for their talents and accomplishments. This year, $25,000 in total scholarships will have been awarded to these talented local students.
The Bremer & Trollop Scholar of the Month program is available to high school seniors who are nominated for recognition by their teachers from the roster of eligible schools which include Wausau East, Wausau West, D.C. Everest, Mosinee, Rhinelander, SPASH, Marshfield, Antigo and Lakeland Union High Schools.
“When we began the Scholar of the Month program, I hoped that it would have an impact on the lives of students, by publicly recognizing them for their scholarship.” said attorney Christine Bremer Muggli, the firm’s founder. “To see, and hear from these talented students who have gone on to college, earned advanced degrees, and been successful in their careers, is so fulfilling.”
Bremer Muggli has a collection of thank you letters from scholarship recipients over the years; and not surprisingly, she relishes them. One student wrote, “The financial assistance you provided will be an immeasurable help to me in paying my educational expenses, and it will allow me to concentrate more of my time on studying so that I may be able to apply myself to the fullest.” Such sentiments make the program “truly worthwhile,” according to Bremer Muggli.
The 10-year anniversary of the Scholar of the Month program has caused Bremer Muggli to reflect on the significance of the 90 scholarships that have been awarded. “Originally, the idea came to me when I served on the Wausau School Board and noticed all of the athletic recognitions there were. Certainly, athletics are an important part of high school education, but I wondered why there weren’t more academic honors as well publicized,” Bremer Muggli added. “All achievements of our students should be honored, both academic and athletic.” The law firm is committed to continuing the tradition of the Scholar of the Monthprogram for many years to come.
