One Arrested in Crash that Injures Four

One man was arrested on suspicion of operating while intoxicated after a single vehicle collision on Interstate 39 in Stevens Point.  Around 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 16, a 2001 Chevy minivan lost control in the southbound lane of I-39 before crashing into trees off-road near the Division Street exit.  Four of the five passengers were taken to Ministry Saint Michael’s Hospital in Stevens Point with injuries ranging from minor to serious.  The Portage County Sheriff’s Department is still investigating the accident, but states that speed an alcohol were factors in the crash.  One lane of traffic on I-39 was shut down while emergency crews responded to the scene.
