Lucia J. Randles, of New Lisbon, was severely injured after a two-vehicle crash early Saturday evening in Port Edwards at the intersection of Highway 54 West and Swanson Road. Randles was trapped in her vehicle as a result of the crash. Witnesses said one vehicle was traveling eastbound on Highway 54 West, while another vehicle was stopped at the stop sign at the intersection of Swanson Road, and failed to yield to oncoming traffic. The driver at the stop sign then entered the intersection, causing the crash. Edwin D. Meyer, of Marshfield, was the other driver involved in the crash.

Many people incorrectly assume an intersection accident means the person without the stop sign was at fault “just for being there.”However, that is not the case. 100% of the negligence often falls on only one driver in an intersection accident. Insurance companies will usually ask to speak with the injured victim after the accident, typically to record the conversation. What is said during that recorded conversation is important and may impact how the insurance company evaluates liability. It is important to speak with a personal injury attorney before speaking with any insurance company.
