The David R. Obey Award was first awarded in 2004. The award is given annually to a person who has demonstrated those characteristics that best define David R. Obey:
- A dedication to fighting for everyday people
- Principled leadership, integrity, perseverance and compassion
- A passion for democratic and progressive values
Attorney Bremer Muggli has more than 30 years experience protecting the rights of consumers, and during that time has been frequently recognized for her outstanding accomplishments. Most recently, she was recognized by Wisconsin Super Lawyers magazine as one of the Top 25 Women Wisconsin Super Lawyers and as one of the Top 50 Wisconsin Super Lawyers. In December 2010, the Wisconsin Association for Justice (WAJ) presented her with the Robert L. Habush Trial Lawyer of the Year Award. In 2009, she was also named an honoree in Wisconsin Law Journal’s annual publication, Women in the Law, for her role as President of the WAJ and in founding the WAJ Women’s Caucus. She currently serves as Vice Chair for the University of Wisconsin Institute for Public Policy and Service Advisory Board, and is a member of the Democratic National Convention (DNC) and the U.S. Electoral College.
