Three Injured in Mosinee School Bus Crash

On Monday morning, three people were injured in an area school bus crash.  According to the Burnett Transit driver, the bus was traveling on Spring Brook Road in Mosinee when an oncoming car drifted toward the center of the road. The bus driver attempted to move over to avoid the oncoming vehicle, and slid into the ditch.  The bus driver and two teenaged passengers were injured.  The Marathon County Sheriff’s Department continues to investigate the accident.

More details are available at The Wausau Daily Herald.

Fortunately, in a case like this where the driver of the vehicle that caused the bus to swerve has not been identified, there may still be available insurance coverage to compensate those who were injured in the crash. All Wisconsin car insurance policies have Uninsured Motorist Coverage that provides the compensation an injured insured would have been able to receive from the unknown “miss and run” driver. These “miss and run” or “phantom motor vehicle” cases arise when an unidentified driver makes no physical contact with you or your vehicle but still causes you harm. In “miss and run” cases, there are certain key steps that must be taken in order to receive coverage: you must 1) identify witnesses who can support your version of events, 2) report the accident to police within 72 hours, and 3) provide a statement under oath to your insurance company within 30 days to notify it of the nature of your claim. It is critical to involve an experienced personal injury law firm right away to make sure these special steps are taken. The lawyers at Bremer & Trollop Law Offices have experiencing handling these claims, and can help you make a claim for Uninsured Motorist Coverage.
